traditional thai MASSAGE course - PRACTITIONER LEVEL

Traditional Thai Massage is a unique form of passive Yoga Therapy and bodywork that incorporates Hata Yoga, Reflexology, meridian work and Acupressure.

Centuries ago, a dynamic bodywork therapy based on Yoga and Ayurveda was born in the temples of Thailand. In this unique healing system of Thai Yoga bodywork - also called Nuad Boran - and widely known as Traditional Thai Massage, (Nuad Phaen Boran ) - the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of passive Yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the ''Sen Lines'', the body's energy lines and pressure points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.

The therapeutic basis of Thai Massage is rooted in the Indian healing tradition of Ayurveda;  the word Ayurveda derives from two Sanskrit words: Ayur, meaning "life" and Veda , meaning "knowledge" thus, this science of living functions as a guide to the proper maintenance of life.

A practical and theoretical training in the art of Traditional Thai Massage where you will learn the complete traditional set of Thai Massage in the Front, Side, Back and Sitting positions, following the northern Thailand style of teaching of Chiang Mai Schools as follows:

  • 134 positions, each one with diagrams, photographs and descriptions

All techniques are on a futon with light-weight clothing required to allow for flexible movement.

The course materials for our Thai Massage Course include a detailed folder containing a step-by-step guide to all practical techniques and notes for all theory lectures. A bibliography for other recommended reading is discussed in the first class.

 The course is suitable for:

Please note: By the end of the course, all students who will intend to practice professionally, will need to add ‘Anatomy & Physiology’ training and hold a recognized certificate in order to get insurance to practice. If you already are a Yoga Teacher, Physio, Osteopath or other complimentary therapist, your qualification may be enough. In this case you can check with your current insurer if they will be able to add Thai Yoga Massage to your current policy once you qualify. If you are in the U.K. you may check directly with CThA or FHT in order to find out if  they will recognize your A&P training as adequate. For the rest of the world, please check with the main Governing Bodies for Holistic & Complementary Therapies.
